He told her!

Conversation at a restaurant last night:

Waitress to N (in true New England form): Do you know what you want for SUPPAH?

N (Tilts head to the side): Do you mean SUPPERRRR?

Love that boy.

Things to do today: By Nathaniel Alan Morgan

So there ya have it.  We're going to the library for story time at 10:30 and then picnic at the park by cvs.  I have another few stops along the way but he didn't think they were important enough to write down.

Friday Flashback : August 2008

HOT HOT Day at a fair.

We sought shade under a tent and listened to a band for a while.

Audrey was 3 months old and was sleeping in the sling.

Nathaniel was fascinated with the band.

Dan was critiquing the band.

I was wishing I wasn't so hot.

Why I Love New Hampshire

technical difficulties

I dont know what's going on. My spacing in my posts is all screwed up. Yes, I know how to create new paragraphs, apparently Blogger doesn't.

Bummer

I had a cute video from this morning of Nathaniel reading from his book of the week. I can't seem to get it uploaded for whatever reason and don't feel like dealing with technology right now so you're gonna have to wait. It involves words like sit, tap, dip. On the way to school today he was doing basic math in the backseat. These are the reasons I love his school.

I am woman, hear me...

Meow??

This morning started out a complete success. Nathaniel was cooperative, got dressed easily without me having to give second, third & fourth requests to just end up doing it myself. Audrey was very pleasant and helpful getting ready and even helping make her breakfast. They both ate peacefully, mostly without fuss. On the menu was oatmeal AND yogurt. They sure pack it away.

Right around 7, we were ready to go... Lunch boxes in hand, running clothes in the bag with my food for the day filled with healthy choices. Crockpot was in the fridge, loaded with chicken, potatoes and carrots with some random spices thrown in.  House was left in fairly good shape.

Crazy work morning, finally got out for my run at 1pm. Up hill the first 1/2 of the way. I was sore & tight all over. Regretting not having time to stretch first. I even had to do a Very brief walk at the 5 minute mark. Get up all the hills, I can see our house on the horizon. I feel amazing, I pulled it off with plenty of time to spare.

Cross the street, get into our driveway, pull the key out of my pocket and realize........

Life of a working mom..

Get up. (that in & of itself is a huge task it seems lately)
Get me & kids dressed, fed. Aim to be out the door by 7am
Get to work, sitting at my desk by 8am
Work work work
Literally run home at lunch to turn on the crockpot
Work work work
Pick up kids
Enjoy a scrumptious dinner that inevitably the kids won't eat but I'll sure enjoy it!

On the menu is chicken, red potatoes and a veggie.

I've mapped out this run for my lunch hour. It's my office to my house & back with a little extra added in to ensure I pass the 4 mile mark. I can't wait. iPod is charged & ready to go.

It's all about multi-tasking.

Can we have a do-over?

This weekend was so stinky. The kids were rotten.

I had a really hard time figuring out what the heck people are referring to when they tell us to Cherish these moments.

Fighting, whining, lying, massive house destruction, crying, hitting, and so on. I wanted to wave the white flag outside our house. Then I wondered who would even WANT to come to the rescue with the way they were behaving. So since I signed up for this job, had to take it on full force.

Eventually, the house did get cleaned, we had a great taco dinner, everyone went to bed happy tonight..

There is hope for tomorrow but right now, I'm wiped out.

---

Friday night I went to boxing boot camp. My friend Christine went with me. We took our positions in the back of the class. That way I can distract myself from the impossible hour of torture by making fun of everyone in front of me. Because, you know, I'm perfect in those classes.

Saturday, we went back to the gym. Finally convinced Dan to switch gyms so we could go together on occasion. Nathaniel loves the kids area there and Audrey is getting better at going. They love that they can be there together.

Sunday, I hit the cold outdoors for a 4 mile run. Had to run by an unleashed dog. It stopped me right in my tracks. The owner was bent over his snowblower (in April??) and I almost hollered out for him to get his dog but I thought I needed to face this. So I tip toed to the other side of the street and walked by the house. Once I felt safe to keep my back to the beast, I picked up my pace again.

2 favorite pictures

I have yet figured out how to get the thousands of pictures off my Dell and onto my MacBook. The external hard drive doesn't seem to want to work as easily as it was supposed to and it makes me tired to think about calling tech support. I have limited pictures to work with on this computer but some rainy day, I might just get motivated to figure it all out.

Today was beautiful outside. Hard to know how to dress the kids for schools. I sound like an 80 year old when I say "it's all about layers". I didn't get to run the past two days because of crazy work but I hope to get to the gym for the next four days in a row. Small goals right?

I'm looking forward to a weekend of cold & rain. I'm probably the only one in the Universe hoping for such things. I just want some downtime, stuck in the house, no pressure to have to go anywhere.

I ordered this book: http://runlikeamotherbook.com/buy-it/ and it'll be here Friday. I can't wait to plow through it.

Still trying to decide about swim lessons. The ears have been such issues for both of them and I'm feeling very selfish of having to give up a Saturday or Sunday morning to go to the Y. I finally smartened up and put ear plugs in at bath time tonight. What a huge difference! There were no tears or screaming about the water! When I asked Audrey if she wanted to get out she said "no thank you". I can't explain the difference. For the past month, we've practically had to sponge bath her because of her fear of the tub. Take that you stupid ear tubes.

Good night.

edited to add: next project is to remove the lady walking behind Audrey in that picture. She drives me nuts. stay tuned.

And even More Easter

------

Our friend Dana was over tonight. I went to a Pampered Chef party at her house a few months back and needed to get my stuff. She has severe food allergy issues and her son is highly functioning autistic. Because of this they are on a very strict gluten free diet. That created a slight challenge of what to cook for dinner. YIKES! We found gluten free spaghetti and the sauce that she can eat. She brought veggies/dip and dessert. I also made a salad.

The boys played well together considering ours is 4 and hers is 9. The beginning was rough but they were brought together with a good game of Wii Resort. That seems to fill any age gap and I think it was when Q realized we might actually be cool people that have more to offer than just Thomas the Train.

I pulled a muscle in my shoulder today while changing a diaper. Takes talent huh? Geez. In my defense, Audrey can be quite the fidget. Needless to say, I didn't get out for a run.

Our house is clean. All we have to do tomorrow is laundry. I'm looking forward to a true day off. Next week at work is going to be brutal. We are on our new computer system. I'm taking the place temporarily of a girl that just quit. It's insanely busy and extremely draining.

Good night room. Good night cow jumping over the moon. Good night mush.

Flashback Friday - July 2005

Those were the only shoes that fit.

I tried on every outfit in 3 maternity sections at stores - this was the only thing decent that I could get around me. That shopping session ended in tears.

I wore the same pants every single day to work for the next 6 weeks.

At the end of this pregnancy, I was 60 pounds heavier than I am today.

Only 8.4 of those pounds was baby.

YIKES.

Wednesday Randoms

I came downstairs this morning and found Nathaniel like this

The dryer was venting which was making it look like smoke outside. He wanted to get a better look so he got as high as he could. Note the oven mits because smoke means fire and fire is hot.

This picture reminded me of another kitchen sink picture from years past.

That's me. 2 years old. I'm standing on a plastic chair, on my toes, playing in the water. Safe huh?
-----------

We were driving around the other day & found a great street that looped around near our house, it's a perfect 3 mile loop. I tried it out today and loved it. Many more hills than I realized and Every inch of my body reminded me that it's been a while since my last run. It hurt like no other. But I did it.

Here's another throw in from Easter Sunday.

Daddy's Little Girl

I got my monthly email update from some parenting site telling me that we should be able to understand 50 words from our 23 month old. This freaked me out so I started writing down words that I know she knows and then wrote down more as she said them when we played. I easily got to 35 and I'm sure there's plenty more that I don't even know she knows. PHEW. I didn't count all her friends names either. No, they're not spoken clearly but she's getting there. Stopping the panic attack now.

Did I mention I had an amazing time in California 2 weeks ago.

Friday Flashback: July 2008

Photobucket

Happy Friday Night to everyone.

I had a 40th birthday party dinner after work out on the deck at the Derryfield. Place was packed. I had to parking lot stalk some poor guy as he walked back to his car.

I ditched the party early and headed home so Dan could go to the movies. I figure he deserved a night out after all he did for me last weekend.

Scrounged through the hand me down stuff but didn't come up with anything Easter worthy. Found plenty of elastic pants for N tho that will help with his embarrassment about not being able to button his own pants yet. We'll work on that later.

I caved for the easy bedtime tonight and I'm internetting with the cat on my lap, Nathaniel's watching Cars. Audrey crashed around 8pm & is snuggly in her bed.

Possible 75 degrees tomorrow! I've mapped out a 4 mile run. Can't wait.

Just what the doctor ordered

My trip to California was exactly what I needed
I read a whole book in one sitting on the plane. Didn't have to get up once or talk to anyone for 5+ hours.
We ate lots of great food, sunshine and laughs
We got pedicures
We heard great music
We had some much needed down time
I slept for 8 hours straight one night
I met a lot of incredible people
While I was gone Dan & the kids had a great time. On Sunday, he took them to the science museum to see a dinosaur exhibit.

I've only run once since the dog bite fiasco. The bite is almost all better but it really set me back. Need to find some mental motivation to get back in the game. I can't believe how nasty I feel. Gotta get my game face back on. Hopefully the weather has turned and so will my attitude.

Did I mention we got new tattoos?
